Trying to reduce my environmental impact
I care about the planet, but I’m not perfect. I still live a pretty normal life. I just try to make better choices when I can. Over the past few years, I’ve changed a few habits to reduce my impact. Nothing extreme, just small things that feel right.
🛒 I Buy Second-Hand
I use Leboncoin a lot. For those who don’t know it, Leboncoin is a popular French website where people sell second-hand stuff, like furniture, tools, bikes, and more. It’s kind of like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. For clothes, I often use Vinted.
That said, I sometimes still buy new clothes, but I try to choose brands that care about how things are made. For example, I like 1083, a French brand that makes jeans and clothes locally and responsibly. It’s not perfect, but it’s a step in the right direction.
💻 Refurbished Tech Works Fine for Me
When I need a new phone or laptop, I go for refurbished. It’s usually cheaper, and I don’t need the latest model. Back Market is a site I like for this. The devices work well and I know I’m not adding more e-waste to the world.
🥕 I’m Vegetarian (and I Buy Local When I Can)
I’ve been vegetarian for a while now. For me, it’s about the environment and also about health and animals. I also try to buy local and seasonal food from small producers nearby. It tastes better and cuts down on transport and packaging.
📦 I Order Less Online
A few years ago, I used to order a lot online, but now I try to slow down. When I really need to purchase online, I avoid fast delivery and group my orders when I can. I also try not to order stuff I don’t really need. It’s a small change, but it helps reduce waste and CO2.
🧵 I Repair and Reuse
If something breaks, I don’t throw it out right away. I try to fix it. And if I really don’t need something anymore, I sell it or give it away. It feels better than throwing things in the trash.
Conclusion
I’m not trying to be perfect. I just do my best with what I can. These small steps help me feel like I’m doing something useful for the planet, without making life too complicated.
